Abstract
Juan-José Ramirez Bonilla, Manzanillo, a port on Mexico 's Pacific Coast The opening up of Mexico to international trade has mobilised its ports, in particular those on the Pacific, which were already set up for tourism. The increase in population went hand in hand with the increase in jobs. Housing is frequently built on poorly equipped farmland. Segregation according to wealth is widespread. Modern port development requires urban restructuring and new prfessional qualifications among the work force.
