A phenician registration of Amathonte

Abstract

During the work of the French School’s mission to Amathonte (Cyprus) was discovered in 1984 a phenician inscription engraved on an attic black varnish cutting bottom. The entry consists of a person name, preceded by the preposition L ‘(belonging) to’, which is a theophore name which is proposed to read YKNSM [S] ‘(god) Sams will firmly establish’. The registration can be dated from the first half of the century J.-G. Sznycer Maurice. A phenician entry of Amathonte. In: Greek Correspondence Bulletin. Volume 111, Delivery 1, 1987. pp. 133-136.
