Abstract

Temporary aquatic biotopes in the Provence of France : invertebrate resistance to the drying up of their habitats. The article examines the various decelerated life styles adopted by the fauna to survive the dry period of the hydrological cycle of temporary provençal habitats. - the resistance to dryness involves species of various zoological groups : Molluscs, Crustacea and Insects. - it takes place for a restricted number of species and often for a small number of individuals for each species. - it presents itself at different stages of organismal development : the egg, through out the immature stages or for the adult animal.
