Abstract
The Chroniques de la Conquête de l’America hispanic — a mixture of epic narratives and didactic representation under the species of a proto-trial — had founded a genus that had a long tradition in Latin America and which had been branched in journalism, with the different forms it takes (background articles, opinion articles, news items, editorials; ‘morality paintings’, ‘pittoresque scenes’) and in the trial, a genus which also has characteristics specific to America, as Germán Arciniegas pointed out by recalling the origins, in particular the texts published by Montesquieu on the New World: ‘America is already in itself a problem, a new world test, something tempting, causing a challenge to intelligence.’ This communication establishes analogies between these two sexes, highlighting their interdependence and projection at the present time.
