The novela Iris by Edmundo Paz Soldán portrays the vital paths of five characters on a fictitious planet dominated by violence emanating from the joint influences of a colonial situation and a former politeistic religion. Looking at how irradiated monstruosity is communicated from divinity to minds, bodies and language we will reflect on the renewed possibilities for fantastic and science fiction to reflect the most indecidable aspects of what is real.
