Abstract
At the beginning of the 20th century, physical interview practices are organised around the worship of force, both in military societies and in gymnasiums of physical culture. The choice of such a practice then makes it possible to comply with the norms of hegemonic masculinity. The maintenance gymnastics for women develop in the margins of promoting values that are more in line with medical and social expectations, under male supervision. In the 1970s, the Volontaire Gymnastic had structural and ideological characteristics close to this design. Processing is inevitable from a male to a female territory. Despite the persistence of male guardianship at the highest level of responsibility, the dynamism of these women at local level makes them the real actors of a practice developed by and for them.
