Abstract
This article aims at depicting some of the procedures of border control to enforce national and international immigration laws, when entering France or transiting through the Paris-CDG airport. The main idea is to illustrate how alien confinement techniques are changing in the light of evolving security requirements; new border police devices are implemented to contain the “flow of illegal migrants” to Europe and private actors are spurred on to participate to the “global security challenge”. What are the consequences of this “control” paradigm shift on third-country nationals detained and questioned under police custody in zone d’attente?
