Abstract
The Egyptian Constitution of 1971 entrusted the High Constitutional Court with the task of protecting its provisions against possible violations by the legislature and the executive. Like any constitutional judge, the Court was therefore called upon to ensure the proper functioning of the public authorities as they are organised by the Constitution and to protect the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution against abuse of power.
