Abstract
The empirical approach to the dynamics of French has often resulted in a collection of localisms, which do not convey the importance of non-standard varieties for general linguistics. Since the functional expansion of French goes along with its structural elaboration, the characteristics of well-known phenomena – such as the 3rd person object clitics or the complementizer and relative pronoun QUE – should help us to understand the more precise structural processes of these dynamics. Our contribution delineates a comparative frame from the (mostly urban) factors observed in the situation of Ivory Coast.
