Where these data come from
Do commuting still structure the territories?

Abstract

In the 1968 population census, France introduced indicators to measure commutes. Since, it has become the sole indicator defining metropolitan areas. However, the generalized urban sprawl observed in the Centre – Val de Loire region from 1990 to 2011 undermines the relevance of census data to study both commuting and metropolitan areas.
