Web and museums: the shock of cultures

Abstract

In response to the development of new internet users’ practices (social networks), the authors put forward some innovative approaches to be followed by museum institutions wishing to move from a ‘showcase’ to a ‘relational’ logic and to imagine co-creative museums in which the visitor — integrated as an actor in the life of the museum and its projects — becomes a member of a community, both user and contributor of a common knowledge.
