The traditional settlement and reorganisation of the urban area in the ‘global territory’ in the Metropolitan Area of the Valle de Mexico (ZMVM)

Abstract

The aim of the work is to show how the traditional population of rural villages, neighbourhoods and villages has been structured differently in view of the accelerated changes brought about by global urbanisation trends. The study site is the leading periphery of the ZMVM (the municipality of Huixquilucan and the Cuajimalpa delegation); very high level real estate investments have been carried out in this area, which have a significant impact on traditional stocking. Socio-spatial segregation and urban territorial differentiation in traditional populations are dimensions addressed in this study.
