1937-1939, André Leroi-Gourhan, a young researcher entering contemporary and old Japan. He then draws up a quantity of descriptive sheets at the basis of his first masterpiece Evolution and Techniques, collects a large number of objects for museums, but also writes various texts, which remain almost unknown, on Japan. In this Thema we put them in perspective in order to grasp their importance in the light of the future work of the humanities. Inspired by its intellectual and practical eruption, we offer a series of studies combining the material, social, religious and aesthetic dimensions of men and their surroundings. We are showing the latest naturalist animal and anthropological research on the report on techniques or nature in France, Japan and Africa.
