In urban cores and on the fringes of major cities, physical, social and symbolic spaces are appearing where intermediate social identities are being reshaped. Based on field studies, the text depicts emerging social micro-organizations centring around projects in which young people are developing group skills by using their individual resources. Such experiences represent an opportunity for transitional socialization, which can form part of a process of social integration, dis-integration or réintégration.
