Abstract
The document shows what happens with tolerance at primary school, based on the results obtained from research carried out as a doctoral thesis. The research focused on the question of what happens to tolerance in primary school? and in particular the problem: is tolerance as a value for democracy taught implicitly or explicitly through institutional educational practices at primary school? A number of suggestions have been made, at institutional and educational level, which have the potential to strengthen this basic value for peaceful coexistence, in the face of the demand for ethical values.
