Question the possibility of (agro) territorial ecological transition? The case of the Drôme Biovalley valley

Abstract

National audience. This communication is based on the results of a research and action project, which involved the co-construction and interpretation of a chronosystemic frise on the development of organic farming and agroecology over the last fifty years in the Drôme Valley (Project PSDR4 sagacity). The question of research concerns the possibility of characterising a territory in transition, by questioning the time and geography of dynamics, but also by asking how actors are linked in the light of the public policies implemented. In particular, it is necessary to identify elements of a territorial nature that play a positive role in these ecological transition processes. In this sense, we do not see the territory, as a framework or a scale of analysis, between micro and macro processes, but rather as a moving social construction, with the fruit of actors interacting with and in their areas of life. We articulate two theoretical approaches, one of the socio-ecological transitions and the other of territorial development, to better understand how, how and under which conditions localised innovations, individual or collective, can transform dominant territorial dynamics. For the interpretation of this chronosystemic fry of the Drôme Valley, we propose an analysis of four paths plus one emerging. The first trajectory describes the pathways for ecological modernisation of different agricultural sectors. The second route looks at the way in which intercommunalities have used AB and agroecology as a lever for territorial development. The third and fourth trajectories emphasise the place and role of cultural and heritage action, on the one hand, and of the constriction and dissemination of knowledge, on the other, in the dynamics of (agro) ecological transition. Finally, a food trajectory emerges from operators with direct links between consumers and producers, shaping a new agro-food, territorial and more environmentally-friendly system. These operators develop capacities to direct farms to other production and processing systems and citizens to other consumption patterns (responsible consumers but also consumer-entrepreneurs). In addition, they have the capacity to connect actors who were not, from different worlds (based on places of hybridisation), and to act as intermediaries between different geographical scales through involvement in inter-territorial networks. They organise forums for debate and decision making to guide actions, help to change historical power and rethink governance methods. In addition, they facilitate the emergence, construction and dissemination of new values, standards, knowledge and practices. They also try to contribute to the development of new territorial narratives, connecting long and contemporary cultural history to think about the future. This led to the production, in partnership with Cap Rural and the Communauté de communes du Val de Drôme, of an online educational support accessible at the following address: http://sagacite.caprural.org/story_html5.html.
