Pain in the elderly with dementia: the contribution of therapeutic touch to psychomotor skills
Abstract
Aging people are more subject to pain than others. On a daily basis the pain is a real invasion of their body and mind. The elderly and in particular those suffering from dementia, with their very particular issues, express this pain through verbal and non-verbal communication. Thus, the psychomotor therapist, by investing in the therapeutic relationship, revalorizes a fragmented body. The therapeutic touch approach, which we will develop in this dissertation, allows the reinvestment of the suffering body.
