Where these data come from
What scales and methods are relevant for the observation of segregative processes? Moving the perspective from the big to the small city, from society to the individual

Abstract

Beyond a simple scalable and methodological positioning, the question to be answered is twofold: what areas should be given priority in observing emerging processes? What is the most appropriate methodological approach? It is by placing the individual at the centre of our thinking that it is possible to assess the territorial dynamics and spatial inscriptions of the populations. It then accepts the premise that land appropriation is a relevant indicator of land ownership. The main aim is to combine two types of data (formal and informal) in the same methodological approach. Based on two experimentation fields, Nyons and Aubenas, two small towns distant from the poles of economic growth (Lyon, Grenoble) and major traffic routes (Rhône valley), the aim is to put in perspective localised micro processes and general meta-phenomena.
