Abstract
Summary: The purpose of pensions is to ensure, by means of remuneration of a financial nature, that a decent standard of living is maintained at the retirement stage. However, contributory ones are affected by inequalities between men and women that accumulate throughout working life, resulting in a further inequity: the gender gap in pensions. The aim of this work is to identify the factors that affect this difference, due to women’s lower involvement in the labour market, which is reflected both in lower female participation in the workforce and in the high presence of women in part-time employment and the consequent increased propensity to intermittency in women’s working lives.
