Barba de Abejas: traducción, trabajo artesanal y materialidad en torno a una propuesta editorial emergente

Abstract

The aim of this article is to investigate the possible links between the task of translating the publishing stamp Barba de Abejas and its elaboration of artisanal type. In the context of post-2001 Argentina, a set of handicraft publishers emerged in that country, proposing innovative and alternative formats for independent editorial production. Among these editorials, the case of the Barba de Abejas publishing house is especially interesting when it is one of the few publishers that has not devoted itself to the publication of contemporary works, but to translations of classic works of Anglo-Saxon literature. Their specimens, too, conform a complex aesthetic and a materiality abundant in detail. In this way, the research problem is linked to the possibility of conceiving Barba de Abejas as a dissenting and disruptive editorial project in the publishing field. For this, bibliography of the field of the theory of culture and cultural sociology is used, as well as the contributions from aesthetics formulated by the French philosopher Jacques Rancière. A methodology of qualitative cut is proposed, in which both the analysis of interviews of key actors and the editor of the mentioned editorial will be used, as well as the image analysis.
