Abstract
In this text “being well” is related to the aim of achieving “the greatest happiness for the greatest numbers”. Contrary to what it might seem, this perspective can be translated into a quite concrete set of priorities, such as reducing poverty, decreasing inequality, eliminating different forms of exploitation, promoting relational activity, preserving the environment, encourage peace or countering consumerism in “Western” society (and in others). The latter entails the adoption of policies oriented to reduce aspirations. According to this perspective, the main objective is no longer the search of economic growth, although it might contribute to achieve some of the mentioned priorities.
