Direct money programme at school: Challenges and possibilities in democratic management/Direct money in school profile: Challenges and possibilities for democratic management

Abstract

The aim of this work is to carry out a literature review of academic productions on the subject of the Direct Money in School Programme — PDDE, a federal government programme, which provides financial assistance to state schools in basic education in the state, municipal and district networks, which has been established in Brazil for over 20 years. In this way, the mapping of the academic productions and the analysis of the selected work were carried out in order to identify the existence of academic productions on the Direct Money Programme at the School, focusing on school managers’ perception of the objectives and applicability of the programme. The databases consulted were the periodicals portal of the Coordination of Upgrading of Senior Level Persons — CAPES and the Brazilian Digital Library of Teses and Disertations — BDTD. The ‘State of knowledge’ type search with a qualitative approach was used as a methodological procedure. Following the use of search criteria in digital repositories, 13 (thirteen) Masters disertations and 01 (one) BDTD PhD thesis were selected for analysis. The works selected for the “State of the Art” on the subject are post-graduate programmes in Education, Pós — Graduation in Public Management and Post — Professional Graduation in Management and Evaluation in Public Education. Analysis shows that little work has been produced addressing the topic, thus highlighting the need for further research in this area. In addition, we note that the work has different approaches and few similarities with our research proposal, in which we propose to investigate the perception that school managers of the municipal public education network in Mossoró have about the objectives and applicability of the Direct Money Programme in the School — PDDE.
