Abstract
ISBN paper edition: 2-200-26378-3 or 978-220026-378-2. ISBN digital edition: 978-2-200-24553-5. 2th edition reviewed and increased in 2011. F. Neveu’s terminological dictionary contains a thousand entries concerning the discipline of language science, described from a non-terminology point of view: the author does not make any strict selection of entries in order to circumscribe a field of knowledge from a methodological option. Rather, neveu seeks to testify to the state of the language sciences observable on the basis of its vocabulary, its ‘actual terminology practices’. Thus, users have access to a cultural universe comprising philosophy, epistemology, computing, history, grammar, cognitive and linguistic sciences. Entries, labelled with the identification of the fields of application of the term although not for the sake of completeness, are accompanied — where relevant — by historical and etymological indications. The definition, while being rather brief as in the tradition of glossaries, develops quotations from authors in order to lay out the concepts described in their theoretical context. Finally, bibliographic information and a system of correlations and cross-references make it easy for users to search further.
