Transfer of knowledge and skills: proposal for a method of analysis of video games.

Abstract

workshop 19: Use of ICT in school pedagogies The aim of this article is to propose a method for searching for a potential link between knowledge and skills developed when playing video games and the common core of knowledge and skills applied in French school education. Based on the work of the anthropologist of the Edward Twiched Hall Communication (Hall 1984) on intercultural systems. In line with its work, we propose to apply the author’s structural analysis methodology to this media. We are presenting a concrete example with the analysis of a serious game called “Stop Disaster”. In the long term, our aim is to extract from a representative sample of video games analysed a proposal for modelling this communication that is not visible to the user in order to compare it with the finest lines of the common core of knowledge and skills.
