Abstract
This article presents an introduction to semiotics in science education. In its beginnings semiotics was introduced in the teaching of mathematics, and subsequently it has been applied for the teaching of physics, chemistry and biology, mainly. It shows the importance of the transition between different semiotic records to achieve semiosis, which translates into the correct learning of scientific concepts. Different perspectives are mentioned for the use of semiotics in the teaching of physics.
