Abstract
Information is shown as an impact factor for organisations on the design and persistence of competitive advantages; however, it has recently been threatened by high levels of uncertainty in its handling. This work analyses the degree of influence that security has on the administration and quality of data of an accounting information system (SIC) on the organisational performance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The study is carried out in the central region of Tamaulipas state (Mexico) through correlation analysis with SPSS software. The results show the high impact of security in administration and quality of information in order to achieve higher productivity in companies. Similarly, I stress the fact that innovation is not addressed in the most appropriate way by the institutions analysed.
