This paper addresses the analysis of the recent feminist movement in Mexico (2019-2020), initially led by young women within the National Autonomous University of Mexico and whose core demands centered around denouncing and putting a stop to violence against women. In the second half of 2019 this movement carried out numerous mobilizations and led several university faculties to a student strike; they took to the streets, summoning very diverse collectives and social actors. It is a “new type” of movement: it has a peculiar protagonist, it is diversified and in many ways different from previous feminist movements, lacking specific and unified leadership, and has been deployed with its very “own” language, direct and confrontational, even resorting to the use of violence as a means of “communicating and shaking”. This movement has managed to impact public opinion, among other significant achievements like securing the attention of the authorities and triggering institutional and normative changes.
