Abstract
Maronite, melkite, Catholic Armenian, Greek Orthodox, apostolic Armenian, Evangelical Armenian, Sunni, Shia, druze, Aaluite: Lebanese immigration in Marseille has ten Christian and Muslim confessions, among the eighteen, constitutionally recognised in Lebanon. We observed how these confessions became part of the city during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries until the end of the Lebanon War (1975-1990). In particular, we questioned immigrants about the place of religion and the role of religious reference as identifiers.
