‘Do you transfuse it?’ Reflecting on the geomorphological phase of a geograph itinerary

Abstract

International audience The author presents a retrospective reflection on his unusual career in geography as a disciplinary field. Following classical training in geography and specialization in geomorphology, he undertook a scientific bifurcation towards social geography. The evolution of personal scientific interest is related to the French disciplinary context of the 1980s and 1990s. The reasons for putting aside the initial geomorphological specialization are addressed in this paper. It focuses on a transitional phase that was defined by research holding historical and epistemological character on the review of topographic maps.
