Abstract

Procope de Césarée are the main, often unique source for the study of the Long Rule of Justinian. Author of both a panegyric book of the Emperor, the Constructions, and a fierce diatribe, secret history, his major work remains the long narrative of the wars, published in 550-551 for the first seven books, and in 553 for the last one. Procope reported on the Roman fighting in the East, Africa and Italy, and highlighted the explosions of the Bellisaire militum. It’s back...
