Procope de Césarée are the main, often unique source for the study of the Long Rule of Justinian. Author of both a panegyric book of the Emperor, the Constructions, and a fierce diatribe, secret history, his major work remains the long narrative of the wars, published in 550-551 for the first seven books, and in 553 for the last one.
