archaeological works carried out on the Santa Ana La Florida site (Palanda) have made it possible to identify the social use of cocoa (Theobroma cacao) in contexts dating from more than 5.000 years. This work focuses on the type of evidence found, the various analyses that enabled it to be reliably identified and a discussion on the contexts in which the evidence and implications of the social use of this fruit were found in Mayo Chinchipe-Marañón and the Amazon archaeology.
