Abstract
This document aims to analyse data on domestic violence in Brazil and in Sergipe, through specific patrolling experiences as a way to combat this form of violence. On the basis of the analysis of the pioneering experience of Patrulla Maria da Penha in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, and the study of the experiences implemented by the military police of the states of Bahrain and Maranhão, it seeks to understand the contributions of these initiatives in the fight against gender-based violence. The study explores the critical and practical analyses of specific police forces in the protection of victims of violence and focuses on the still superficial data on violence against women in Sergipe to justify the need to mature the debate on improving and specialised policing to meet this specific demand.
