Abstract
`titrebFrom Little Girl to Woman – the Journey through Adolescence`/titrebThis article describes the psychoanalytical cure of a 16 year-old female patient and illustrates new dimensions opened up by the psychoanalytical treatment of teenagers in rethinking the traditional opposition between shame and guilt. The author emphasises the fact that adolescence is a time in which all sense of psychical order is upset, bringing pre-determined notions of guilt and shame tumbling down, and this because of bodily resonances of the teenager’s tumultuous feelings. In the case discussed here, the effects of transference allowed the patient’s sense of inferiority, formerly accompanied by a feeling of intense shame and associated with an overflow of drives, to be channelled towards castration anxiety.
