Tracing the Impact of Populism on European Foreign Policies

Abstract

International audience The special issue analyzed the impact of populism on foreign policy in a range of European cases. By developing a common analytical framework and applying it across several case studies and policy areas, the special issue makes a contribution to nascent efforts at theorizing the relationship between populism and foreign policy, while at the same time providing empirical insights on a number of European cases. Rather than just on populist actors’ preferences in, or utilization of, foreign policy, we aim to shed light on how populism influences foreign policy outputs and processes.
