Gênere and marital violence: psychologists’ conceptions

Abstract

conjugal violence in the 80s was discussed from the dual conception: man — aggressor versus multi-victim and understood as violence against women. The emergence of academic productions contesting this dual vision made it possible to understand the subject through the multiple roles of men and women in a violent emotional relationship. Considering these contexts, the study investigated the conceptions of gênery and marital violence of the nine psychologists working on public programmes involved in marital violence in the Great Victoria through a structured semi-interview. The following meanings are highlighted: some psychologists develop actions in line with the principles of the feminist movement and demonstrate in their speeches marked influences of a dual design. The other plot of psychologists also considers the asymmetries between the nerves, but clearly considers the costs of gênery collection and the consequences of marital violence for men and women, approaching the relational benchmark.
