National speeches and stories: the fantasy story

Abstract

The story is the result of a multitude of narratives and narratives, built over time and changing according to the way they are used. This study asks about speeches, including political and institutional ones, and their ability to change our representations. The concepts of social representation, authoritative speech and speech performance will be at the heart of this reflection. The memory focuses on showing that discourse can evade scientific rigour for a more “unifying” story. Historical stories, which take shape around the 17th century, are intended to tell historical facts in a variety of forms that are intended to be authentic. The Welsh national narrative will be chosen as a hanging point. Subsequently, history will be studied as a political tool, and more specifically, the founding myth as an imperative for national unity (...).
