Opening up public databases: the point and challenges of health

[focus] In the health world, where digital data are growing, anonymised databases run by public entities are a major challenge. In order to be fully useful, their access must be sufficiently open. In 2016, the Health System Modernisation Law foresees positive developments but may lead to backsliding and creates an overly complex administrative system. The way forward is the establishment of a genuine regulatory system.
