Abstract
Urban art (graffiti, tags) marks the walls of our cities in a heterogeneous way in space and time. Interactions between public authorities and artists, often organised in communities, are one of the main sources of differentiated appropriations in urban areas. In Nantes Métropole, the attitude of the public authorities takes several forms, such as the provision of walls, the promotion of artistic events, tolerance in transition areas and the deletion of prohibited markings.
