this chapter introduces to the French-speaking sociology of old age and ageing. He referred to the project of the work and its methods of reflection and structuring. It defines old age and ageing as sociological objects, and determines this disciplinary perspective by resembling it in an epistemological break with common sense and in comparison with other disciplinary perspectives.
