Abstract
The aim of this study is to discuss information as a subsidy for combating violence, which is a major factor in black women in Brazilian society. This has been identified in the work presented at the National Information Science Research Meeting from 2010 onwards, those that address the topic or assist in the reflection on information and the fight against violence. It is characterised by research as descriptive, exploratory, bibliographic and quality-quantitative approach. The data collected refer to a search universe of 3.469 events. It should be noted that only nine work on the subject has been recovered from this amount. In the light of this, the work recovered in research is important for the theoretical and practical world of library and information professionals, with a view to mediating information with a view to preventing and combating violence against Brazilian black women. To return to this issue, it is important, and this is the mission and ethical-political role of the information professionals, as we know of the prejudices, the privileges of completeness, racism and structural and structural maladministration that predominate in society.
