Abstract
The purpose of this memory was to understand the extent to which audio narrative formats in France have been inspired by American storytelling to thrive. By comparing two US programmes, This American Life (WBEZ-NPR) and Serial, pioneers of audio narratives, and two French programmes, Affaires Sensibles (France Inter) and Transfert (Louie Media), we were able to demonstrate that a single answer to the question was not possible. On the side of the native podcast — meaning native and only available on the web — the format copies the US codes. However, in Radio France, the narrative is more in line with visual documentary writing. In a creative and healthy audio environment, radio and podcasts narrative format in France is a strong sector, which has enabled listeners to return to audio content consumption and advertisers to find a new way to thrive.
