Abstract
This work analyses the confrontation between political power and private media in the context of the Communication Law in Ecuador and reflects on the complex relationships between communication, culture and politics in contemporary society. He critically outlined some information practices marked by symbolic violence, in clear conflict with social responsibility. It sets out the conceptual basis for the social responsibility of journalism and proposes the work strands of public policies to improve information practices: training of journalists; information with a rights-based approach; new information agendas; formation of critical hearings; visibility and social participation, inter alia, in the media field.
