Abstract
The number of students with disability is constantly increasing in Québec’s universities. This increase is mostly due to the higher number of students with what is usually called emerging disabilities, which are related to mental health issues. Confronted with this reality, the Université du Québec system – which regroup ten of the eighteen universities in Québec – created a working group on this problematic. In June 2014, the working group’s report was presented to the UQ system authorities. This article is based on a section of the report. Its first section shows the evolution of the student population with disability in Québec’s universities, while its second section concerns the services offered to them. Together, they present a portrait of the situation of students with disability in Québec’s universities, and particularly in the Université du Québec system.
