In France, to develop local food supply chains, local authorities and the Terre de Liens movement provide farmland to aspiring farmers involved in alternative farming styles. This chapter outlines how these projects participate to reshape relationships between farmland management stakeholders. In the medium term, reconfigurations are limited, even if partnership-based networking initiatives succeed. In the shorter term, conflictual situations may occur, particularly when farmers are evicted. Furthermore, when the land property-rights of an already running farm are transferred to alternative newcomers, the bundle of rights is often enlarged. Though, the projects clashes with certain local principles of legitimacy in accessing farmland. This can lead the local famers to express feelings of land injustice. The chapter draws conclusions about acceptability and transferability of such projects.
