Abstract
This translation brief consists of several parts. The purpose of the presentation is to give keys to the attempt to resolve the Ukrainian crisis on the basis of sanctions. The first part deals with economic sanctions in general: what is called “economic weapon”? What is the difference between embargo and boycott, etc. The second part is devoted to EU foreign policy: what are its guidelines? How are sanctions introduced? The third part sets out the EU’s sanctions against Russia and the Russian sanctions, and then discusses the economic consequences for both sides. It is followed by the translation into French of a Russian text on the economic situation in Russia in the context of sanctions. The translation strategy presents the difficulties encountered during translation and the solutions provided. A paragraph is devoted to the economic language and its interest for the translator. The terminological analysis includes terminological sheets, a glossary and two bilingual gloves. It is followed by a critical bibliography.
