Abstract
International audience This chapter on the scales of governance, the aporias of measurement and the lack of knowledge reviews the ways in which measurement breaks into the field of indigenous peoples' rights and their governability without responding to "exact" knowledge. The measure is present in the political treatment, but when the indigenous populations are understood from an economic angle, and not with regard to their cultures, their rights or the legal personality conferred by recognition as a people, the available measures generate new frustrations.
