Youth literature is a tool to teach history?

Abstract

Teaching history is a kind of challenge because children find difficult to figur time-going-on especially long lasting time as it is in history. Building sense of long lasting time needs some training starting from an early childhood. That is the reason why I have been questionning myself about the most accurate tools to be used in the elementary school to help pupils to come to history. Starting from the fact that children love to be read stories, I have questionned myself whether it will be possible to bring their attention to history starting from stories out of the children's literature, as the official 2015 programm recommands it. I think that reading historical novels bring conscience of time lasting to pupils and contribute to their interest to the subject. In my theorical frame I will consider the so-called «children's literature », then I'll figur how it can be used by pupils at school to shape the forgone past which they can't experience. Through this process we will build together the first landmarks in time according to history and make sense to the method used in history. Willing to experiment the use of children's literature in teaching history I have chosen two teaching units for year one.
