Getting involved in finding a job? A utilitaristic logic of student engagement

Abstract

Injep analyses and summaries, No 34 Publication published in Injep Analyses and Synthesis, No 34 Superior education policies have encouraged students and students to engage since 2017, by promoting their activities in university curricula. How do these commitments relate to educational and professional pathways? Our sociological background, leading to students and mentors committed by several academic institutions (universal, large school, university), shows that some of them invest time in extracurricular activities to serve their educational and professional backgrounds. In this way, they enhance the knowledge and expertise acquired in higher education and labour market research. This behaviour is fully in line with the dynamics of professionalisation of higher education.
