Abstract
The aim of this article is to analyze the ecosystem of digital journalism ventures in Brazil, created mostly by journalists coming from traditional vehicles. Largely, these journalists were fired from their jobs because of the disruption of the business model of journalism caused by the Internet, and became entrepreneurs for lack of choice. Inspired by the digital entrepreneurship movement, the utopia of open access to information and Californian ideology, in this new environment it is possible to identify the relationships of these ventures with platforms such as Facebook and Google and with traditional media outlets. The research problematizes this startup-inspired business model and its relationship with the public interest
