Component analysis and definition of resilience concept: a narrative revision

Abstract

HIGHLIGHT There are various definitions of resilience, in the 70s it was used to describe those who, despite having suffered severe economic problems, were able to regain psychological stability and cope with the situation in a healthy manner. In the 80 he was employed to refer to the suitability of those who, after suffering serious conflict, were able to maintain a mental balance. The Real Academia Española defines it as the adaptability of a living to a disruptive agent, condition or adverse situation. Taking into account the results of the various studies on the subject, it seems that this definition is insufficient to determine its meaning. In view of the above, a narrative review of resilience definitions from different perspectives, reported in articles, books and related association pages, was carried out in order to identify their components and develop a definition including them, with 32 definitions, out of 30 authors or set of authors, in 31 sources, identifying five components and one restriction. It is concluded that resilience is a dynamic process that can be driven in any body as it is exposed to the adversity and stress generated by it.
